Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Anti-Land Mafia Squad has uncovered an alleged illegal coal trading operation in the New Kamptee police station area, arresting five persons and seizing 11.625 tonnes of stone coal along with other material collectively valued at around Rs 2.30 lakh.
The action was carried out following a tip-off about the alleged illegal purchase and sale of coal at Rehmat Exin Firm in Gada Shivar, located on the route from Kamptee railway crossing via Gada village towards Awandi village.

Acting on the information, a Crime Branch team conducted a raid at around 4 am in the presence of panch witnesses.
Police allegedly found a large stock of coal at the premises and detained five persons who were present there. Four two-wheelers were also found at the spot.
The arrested accused have been identified as Aahad Firoz Ahmed, Danish Mohammad Akram, Chetan Ramesh Shendre, Kunal Harish Raut and Atulsingh Abhimanyusingh.
According to the preliminary police investigation, Chetan Shendre, Kunal Raut and Atulsingh allegedly procured coal after stealing it from the Kanhan mine and transported it to Danish’s firm for sale.
Police suspect that the group was involved in the unauthorised purchase and sale of the stolen coal for financial gain.
The raid resulted in the seizure of 11,625 kg of coal, Rs 10,500 in cash, a weighing scale, four two-wheelers and two mobile phones. The total value of the seized material has been estimated at approximately Rs 2.30 lakh.
A case has been registered at New Kamptee police station. The five arrested accused and the seized property have been handed over to the local police for further investigation.
Police are now probing the alleged source of the coal, the network involved in its transportation and the extent of the illegal trading operation.
