Nagpur: The Nagpur Police have stepped up action against pubs, bars, cafés and restaurants violating permissible noise limits, with the city’s Escort Team conducting a late-night crackdown at Hichki Bar & Restaurant in the Sadar police station area.
Acting on a tip received by Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangare Patil around midnight on September 12, 2026, the Escort Team was directed to verify reports of loud DJ music at Hichki Bar & Restaurant located on the 13th-floor terrace of the Park Avenue building in New Colony.
The police team, led by Assistant Police Inspector Bhagwan Koli, carried out a noise-level check in the presence of two witnesses. A measurement taken on the road outside the building recorded 63.2 decibels.

Since Park Avenue falls within a residential area, police then proceeded to the 12th floor and measured the sound level using a sound-level meter. The reading was found to be a staggering 100.6 decibels, exceeding the permissible limit.
Police traced the sound to the 13th-floor terrace, where Hichki Bar & Restaurant was operating a DJ system.
The DJ operator, 22-year-old Deep Shankarrao More, a resident of Shrikrishna Nagar in Wathoda, was questioned and reportedly identified Abhay Virkhede as the bar manager. Police seized the DJ equipment and registered a case against the DJ operator at Sadar Police Station under applicable provisions of the new and existing law. Further investigation is underway.
Police warning to pubs, bars and restaurants
Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangare Patil has warned owners and DJ operators across Nagpur to strictly follow government-prescribed noise regulations while using sound systems.
He urged establishments to ensure that their music and sound equipment do not cause noise pollution or inconvenience to residents. Violations will invite legal action, police said.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner Nangare Patil by Escort Team chief API Bhagwan Koli, Police Sub-Inspector Pravinkumar Dahale, Police Head Constable Anup Lolusare, Arshad Sheikh, Someshwar Nikhare, Rajesh Ghongde, Nitin Nare and personnel from Sadar Police Station.
