A young man was knocked dead while other was seriously injured after a speeding truck dashed their motorcycle on Wednesday afternoon.
Sobin Fattelal Meshram (44), a resident of Samta Nagar, Jaripatka, gave lift to Ganesh Gorelal Nageshwar (39), also a resident of Samta Nagar. The duo were riding on their motorcycle (MH 31 DG 6772) when a speeding and carelessly driven truck dashed into their motorcycle. Ganesh was killed on the spot while Sobin sustained serious injuries in the mishap. Fearing consequences and public wrath, the ‘killer’ driver fled away from the spot leaving the victims in a pool of blood.
Commuters rushed Sobin to Janta Hospital for treatment. Jaripatka police reached the spot after being informed and performed panchanama and sent Ganesh’s body for post mortem. Cops have registered a case under Sections 279, 337, 304 (a) read with Sub Sections 134 and 177 of Motor Vehicle Act.
