Nagpur: New Kamptee Police have arrested a YouTube journalist and his two accomplices for allegedly demanding Rs 5 lakh as extortion from Kesar Land Builders.
The accused have been identified as YouTube journalist Veerkumar Dinesh Singh (30), a resident of Santaji Nagar, Kanhan, Sheikh Habib Sheikh Rahamtulla (34), a resident of Patel Nagar, Kanhan, and Sayyed Rizwan Haidar Sayyed Ali Rizvi (50), a resident of Sailab Nagar, Kamptee.
According to police sources, complainant Sachin Gupta is the director of Kesar Land Builders. Gupta owns a layout on Kamptee-Nagpur road. Singh was threatening Gupta that plots at Kesar Land were sold unauthorizedly. To brush the matter under the carpet, Singh had demanded Rs 10 lakh from Gupta. However, after a series of negotiations, the extortion amount was fixed at Rs 5 lakh.
In the meantime, Gupta approached DCP Niketan Kadam. Subsequently, DCP Kadam laid a trap on Kamptee-Kalamna road and nabbed the accused trio red-handed accepting the extortion amount.
