Youths seriously injured in attack; one accused arrested, others absconding

Nagpur News : Two friends were admitted to hospital after they were attacked on Thursday for campaigning for a party by a group of goons under the jurisdiction of Kalamna Police Station. Cops said, the incidence took place at around 11.15 pm on Thursday when the duo were having their dinner at an eatery.

Police said, Jagdish Wasudeo Lanjewar (25), a resident of Vinoba Bhave Nagar, Pardi was having his dinner with friend Deepak Aasaram Salame at Bhanakat Saoji Bhojnalay, near Satish Chaturvedi’s office, HB Town Pardi.

The accused Purushottam Nagorao Hazare (37), a resident of Pardi; Yaswant Nagorao Hazare (28), Debu (26), Guddu (26), Suraj (26), Bablu (26) and their 3-4 other accomplices approached Jagdish and Deepak and asked them why they campaigned for an opponent party. The accused suddenly took out swords and attacked the duo on head, hands and legs.

The injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment after the accused fled the spot. Kalamna police was meanwhile informed and they reached the spot within time. Cops have arrested Purushottam Hazare for this attack and have launched search for other accused. Cops have registered an offence under Sections 147, 148, 149, 506 (b) read with sub section 4+25 of the IPC. Further investigations are under way.
