Youth conned into job promise, ends up losing Rs 12 lakh; 4 booked

Joblessness has made the youths restless and anxious and in their desperation to secure one, they more often fall trap to the wrong ways. The prevailing situation has made such jobless youths easy target for the fraudsters. In a similar case, eight young boys were duped of Rs 12 lakh after they were promised a job in Merchant Navy.

Sonegoan police have booked four persons including a woman. The accused include Santosh Kumar Singh, a native of Bhopal; Mukul Gour, a native of Tumsar; Atul Mishra, a native of Bhopal; and Shraddha More, a resident of Sadar, Nagpur.

Police sources said accused worked with Queen Star Shipping Company Ltd, behind Pride Hotel, Ingole Nagar. They met Harish Chandrashekhar Paunikar (20), a resident of Dhangawli Nagar, Pimpla Road and his seven friends. They promised the complainant to give them job in Merchant Navy and took Rs 12 lakh since November 2013. However, they started avoiding Harish. This alerted Harish and his friends and lodged a complaint with Sonegaon police.

Cops have registered an offence under Sections 420 and 34 of the IPC against the accused and started their investigations.
