Singh, who had lowered his age in a well planned conspiracy to prolong his tenure as Army Chief, is drooping to such low level which is strongly condemnable,” said the City President Bunty Shelke while leading the protest staged in Ramnagar. “The protest was staged as respect for press which is also called fourth pillar of Indian democracy,” said Shelke.
Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi having “56 inch chest” over the issue, he said that had there been a sensitive Prime Minister, he would have “dismissed” the minister by now. “But since the Prime Minister and the Minister seem to share a similar mindset, I have no expectation out of the PM,” he said, alleging this is a “completely fascist” mindset.

The activists raised slogans against the Minister and blackened and garlanded his photograph with shoes and chappals. They also burned an effigy of the Minister.

During the protest, Bunty Shelke, Sumit Bhalekar, Pravin Pote, Ashish Varjurkar, Kishore Somkuvar, Amit Shiv, Pramod Wankhede, were detained by police and taken to Ambazari Police Station.

A large number of Youth Congress activists participated in the protest.
