Youth booked for sending obscene SMS to girl

Nagpur: In spite of the knowledge that Section 66A of the Information Technology Act prescribes ‘punishment for sending offensive messages through communication service like SMS through mobile phones, through e-mails etc. many youth still indulge in this cyber crime.

In a similar incident which occurred in Wadi area, a youth was booked for sending obscene SMS to a 29 year girl and threatening her. It is alleged that the youth had sent obscene SMS from different numbers and harassed her.

According to police sources, the 29 year old girl who is a resident of Wadi area lodged a complaint with Wadi Police Station alleging that an unidentified youth has been sending obscene SMS from two mobile numbers and harassing her from October 18, 2015 to March 18, 2016.

Woman Police Sub Inspector Kutemate of Wadi Police station registered a case against the accused under Sections 354 (D) (2), 385 and 507 of Indian Penal Code and is investigating further.
