Youth beheaded in gas balloon cylinder explosion at Timki, three girls had minor escape

Nagpur News : Panic triggered at Timki after a gas balloon cylinder explosion at Timki beheaded a 28-year-old balloon seller on Monday afternoon. Due to the blast, the deceased’s head plunged into air and fell on a neighbour’s balcony frightening nearby residents.

The blast led to more tension after the gas cylinder blow up and came to rest on other neighbouring house.

Deceased Durgapal Chavhan was a native of Uttar Pradesh. From past few days, he along with his three friends was staying as a tenant at Patilpura area.

Around 4 pm, Chavhan was filling gas in the balloon through the gas cylinder outside while his partners were resting inside their room. Suddenly the gas tanker blows u, beheading Chavhan while the gas cylinder blow up to around 80 feet in air and fell on a tin shed of a neighbour Manoj Hatwar’s house. The cylinder crashed through the tin shed and fell into Hatwar’s house where his two daughters and a niece were playing together.

Aastha, Tapasya and Tannu had a lucky escape as the cylinder fell a few feet away from them. The girls immediately rushed out of the room before it caught fire. Residents informed that all three girls suffered minor bruises.

Monday’s incident once again recalled past incidents of gas balloon cylinder explosion that has injured many people in city. Thus, Timki residents gathered in large number protesting to put ban on the gas filling cylinder.

Tehsil police are questioning Chavhan’s friends as from where they had bought the gas cylinder. Police has shifted the body for post mortem at Mayo hospital and have registered a case of an accidental death.
