Nagpur: In a shocking incident, a young, helpless woman was raped frequently by a 53-year old man and was later pushed into flesh trade. A middle-aged woman also played a dirty role in this outrageous episode. The accused man has been arrested.

According to police, the 25-year old survivor was staying as tenant in the house of accused Manik Ramchandra Shevare (53) at Plot No. 737, Lashkaribagh, Pachpaoli. The victim woman had borrowed money from a private money-lender but was not able to return. She approached the accused woman named Asha Bhushan Sharma (50), staying in the same area, for help. However, instead of extending the victim help, the accused Asha Sharma asked her to have sex with unidentified men for getting money. Taken aback by the ‘advice,’ the survivor flatly refused to toe the line.

Enraged by her refusal, the accused Manik Shevare pulled her in her own house and raped her forcibly. Thereafter, from May 2018 to November 2018, the accused Shavare raped the young woman repeatedly. To add to the woes of the survivor, the accused Asha Sharma threatened her and took her to different places for flesh trade with two unidentified men. The victim woman was also being tortured mentally and physically. However, the woman somehow managed to approach Jaripatka police and registered a case in this regard.

Jaripatka PSI V B Pawar, based on the complaint of the victim, booked the accused Manik Shevare and Asha Sharma under Sections 376(1), 370, 504, 506 of the IPC read with Section 4 of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. The accused Manik Shevare has been arrested. Further probe is underway.
