Nagpur: Frustrated over failing to get job despite several attempts, a 27 year old woman who was postgraduate in commerce, ended her life by hanging self from a ceiling fan at her residence in Jalaram Nagar here. The deceased has been identified as Namita Deshpande, who also mentioned her depression over being unemployed in her suicide note.
Namita’s brother Pritesh is a police constable. She had been pursuing further studies and also preparing for banking examinations. Her father, Bhojraj, is a retired central government employee. The family remained oblivious of Namita’s suicide for a long time after she hanged herself with a scarf from the ceiling fan.

The family came to know about the incident at 4pm. Her mother was the first to see her hanging after she peeped through the window since there was no response from the room despite repeated calls. Namita was rushed to a private clinic and later Mayo Hospital, where she had been declared dead.

Police sources said Namita had repeatedly sought forgiveness from her parents in the last note she penned on one of the pages of a long note book. She expressed disappointment at not being able to meet the expectations of herself and her family. Namita also said ‘sorry’ to her ‘sapna’ or dream in a philosophical manner.

Namita, said police, had written several times that her dream of getting a job had so far met with no success, which had brought down her confidence level. She had also expressed concern at the grief her grandmother and the rest of the family would suffer about her death.

Friends and family members assembled at Mayo Hospital mortuary said Namita was sincere and studious. “The family members valued education. She might have come under the pressure of the expectations from her family about getting a job,” said a police personnel associated with the case.

Kalamna police have registered a case of accidental death after recording statements of the family members. Namita’s brother Pritesh, who was in Pune for training, rushed back to the city after being informed of the incident.
