Young driver found murdered in Maharajbagh area; cops hunt 4 suspects

murderNagpur: A young driver of Tata Magic vehicle was found murdered at a nallah near Veterinary Hospital in Maharajbagh area here on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Pramod alias Pintu Bharatlal Pande (20), resident of Jaitala.

It is assumed that Pramod was done to death somewhere else and his body was thrown at the nallah. The body was in highly decomposed state with one hand missing. On being informed, DCP Shailesh Balkavade and a team of Sitabuldi police rushed to the spot and started investigation. It is learnt that two suspects were detained for questioning even though one of them was let off later. Grilling of the other suspect is going on for any lead in the brutal crime. Another report says that four suspects are a subject of massive manhunt by cops.

The relatives of Pintu said that a missing complaint was lodged with Sitabuldi police. Subsequently, a team of Crime Branch had scanned the area near the nallah but could not find Pintu or his body at that time. According to police, the Jaitala resident Pramod alias Pintu Pande was operating Tata Magic vehicle and used to ferry passengers from Sitabuldi to Khaparkheda. However, he had not returned home since the past two days forcing his relatives to lodge a missing complaint with police. On Fridaymorning, a few passersby spotted a body lying at the nallah near Veterinary Hospital in Maharajbagh area and alerted the Police Control Room.

Later, a team of Sitabuldi police reached the spot and also informed the Pande family about finding a body. Cops asked them to come to the spot for identification of the deceased. Subsequently, the relatives arrived at the scene. Brother of deceased Pintu identified the body as that of his younger brother. Thereafter, cops summoned the dog squad for scanning the area for any clues. In the meanwhile, body of Pintu was sent to GMCH for post-mortem. Apart from a missing hand, the face of the deceased was smashed badly by the murderers in an attempt to destroy evidence and put hurdle in his identity. The relatives identified the body as that of Pintu on the basis of cloths.

The deceased Pintu was the youngest of four siblings Vinod, Manoj and Sonu. It is learnt that the deceased was a drunkard.

According to police release, Vinod Pande (30), the elder brother of the deceased, had told police that Pintu had a brawl with four unidentified persons on the night of Wednesday and later the four persons had taken him towards Maharajbagh area. An eyewitness named Sunil had corroborated Vinod’s statement.
