Yoga day to be celebrated at various Defence Establishments

Yoga Session at NCC OTA, Kamptee, Nagpur

As a part of International Yoga Day, on June 21, 2016. Yoga sessions will be organised at various Defence Establishments in and around Nagpur.

To celebrate International Yoga Day at NCC Officers Training Academy, Kamptee more than 350 participants including 147 Associate NCC Officers, 193 JCOs and NCOs of Army and all the officers of Academy led by Commandant Maj Gen NS Rao will participate in the event. The event will be taken in a true spirit at Guards Regimental Centre, Kamptee, where a special Yoga Capsule for personnel and their families will be organised. Military Hospital Kamptee is conducting Yoga session for patients and staff to mark the occasion. Yoga is also conducted at the historic World War era ward which is the largest in Asia.

Yoga is an important tool to prevent various diseases like Hypertension, Diabetes, Stress related disorders etc. Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition and its holistic approach to health and well being and took a vow to make yoga a part and parcel of their daily routine.

For becoming a disciplined and motivated soldier it requires immense mental and physical conditioning. In order to be an effective soldier it is not only essential to be physically fit but also, a soldier must be able to withstand pain, fatigue, isolation and homesickness. If a soldier knows how to cope with challenging conditions, he will be able carry out the assigned mission effectively. With the help of Yoga, soldiers can learn to cope with the rigours of military life. They are thus more attuned to perform their task with equal efficiency even when faced with pressures or while facing fearful odds. Yoga is followed in most of the Defence establishments in Nagpur region and there are physical instructors who are also qualified Yoga Teachers. Yoga experts from various organizations are also invited to conduct special Yoga sessions from time to time.
