Yet another woman falls prey to chain snatchers; Cops fail to check crime

Nagpur : There seems to be no check on rowdy chain snatchers as the crime continued to wreak havoc on the safety of woman on roads. With no concrete action on such elements more such incidents are being reported every day from every nook and corner of the city. Yet another case of chain-snatching was recorded on Monday at Dhantoli police station wherein a middle-aged woman was relieved of her gold chain. The incident took place at around 10.15 pm.

Police sources said Meera Prakash Chandra (49), a resident of Gajanan Society, Tikekar Road, Dhantoli was standing in front of Ambedkar Hospital, Tikekar Road when two unidentified thieves came on a motorcycle and snatched away her gold chain worth Rs 52,000 and sped away. Before she could raise an alarm, they had already fed the spot. Meera rushed to Dhantoli police station and lodged a complaint against the unidentified thieves. Cops have registered an offence under Sections 392 and 34 of the IPC.
