World Population Day: ‘Vaccine Van’ dedicated to public

DSC_0395Nagpur: In a function to observe the World Population Day held here at Abasaheb Khedkar Sabhagruh of Nagpur Zilla Prishad on July 13, Monday, a ‘Vaccine Van’ was dedicated to public at the hands of ZP president Nisha Sawarkar who showed green flag to mark the event. The van was sponsored by Central government health department.

Prominently present on the occasion were ZP vice president Sharad Donekar, ZP chariman Ukesh Chavan, Asha Gaikwad, Pushpa Waghade, Deepak Gedam, ZP CEO Shivajirao Jondhale and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Nisha Sawarkar said, “Owing to awareness among the citizens about Child Marriage (Preventive) Act the quantum of education among girls is rising, and the number of girls is also increasing because of ban on fetus-test. This being the situation, the population of girls is 948 per thousand, and for this, health officers and employees deserve appreciation.”

She also observed that as the health officers and employees have taken a pledge to serve the masses sincerely, the diseases like swine-flu and dengue are under effective control in rural areas. She called on the health officers and employees to spread more and awareness in rural parts and seek the services of aganwadi sevikas in this regard.

CEO Jondhale expressed his concern over rising population and appealed to all health department officials and workers to intensify the message of ‘kutumb kalyan’ (family welfare) among the rural masses and achieve the target earmarked for the year 2015-16.
Also present to mark the day were several health officers from PHCs including Dr Pradip Virtharia, Dr Anand Gajbhiye, R L Wairagade, L B Chalpe and others.

Surekha Choubey conducted the proceedings while Dr Irfan proposed the vote of thanks.
