Workshop on Geo-Spatial Technology held at WCL

Nagpur: Under the aegis of Human Resource Department department of Nagpur based Public Sector Undertaking, Western Coalfields Limited organized a day long workshop on Application of Geo-spatial Technology (GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing) in Mine Management, today. Dr. M. P. Narayanan, former Chairman of Coal India Limited (CIL) was the Chief Guest of the workshop. While addressing during inaugural session Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Western Coalfields Limited Shri. Rajiv R. Mishra said that, we are concerned about remote sensing since last several years. Remote Sensing & Geo-spatial Technology shall prove helpful to achieve challenging coal production target of CIL of one billion Tone till FY – 2019-20. He emphasized that all subsidiaries of CIL should implement this modern technology on priority. He also briefed about land information, and water resource management system, the initiatives taken by WCL.

The Chairman of workshop and former Chairman of CIL Dr. M.P. Narayanan said that, I am very pleased to know that WCL has started land information and water resources management system. While addressing the young officers, he said that they should increase use of new technology for socio-commercial interest and take right decision at right time to develop the country. He emphasized on positivity and to avoid anger in any circumstance. Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Director (Personnel) of WCL congratulated and guided the young officers of WCL during his address.

Eminent faculty from Delhi Anamika Das, Sr. Scientist, Regional Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO, Nagpur Dr. A. O. Varghese, Associate Scientist, Maharashtra Remote Sensing Application Centre, Nagpur, Dr. Ajay Deshpande and Sr. Manager (E&T) of Nagpur Area Shri Rajiv Singh also addressed the participants during the workshop. General Manager (HRD) Shri M. K. Singh, Principal, MDI, Shri V. K. Jha, Sr. officials and young officers of Gen-Next were prominently present during the workshop.
