
Nagpur: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a special felicitation ceremony honoring women journalists was organized by the Tilak Patrakar Bhavan Trust in collaboration with the Nagpur Shramik Patrakar Sangh and the Nagpur Press Club. The event was held on March 8 at the Press Club auditorium in Civil Lines and witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the media fraternity.
The program was chaired by senior editor S. N. Vinod, while the Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Shivani Dani Wakhare, attended as the chief guest.
During the ceremony, women journalists who have made notable contributions to the field of journalism were felicitated with mementos. The honorees included Bhagyashree Sharma from Lokmat Samachar, Ashwini Mharolkar-Pachkhede from Sakal, Bhagyashree Raut from BBC, and Devshree Bhimte-Meshram from UCN.
Continuing the annual tradition of recognizing contributions in the social sector, the prestigious ‘Stree Gaurav’ Award was presented this year to senior social worker Chhaya Khobragade for her significant work in the community.
The ‘Shobha Vinod Memorial Award’ was also presented during the event. This year’s award was conferred upon Ankita Deshkar from The Indian Express in recognition of her achievements in journalism.
In addition, under the ‘Journalist’s Spouse’ category, Pallavi Keval Jivantare was honored for her noteworthy contributions to social work.
Speakers at the event highlighted the growing role of women in journalism and acknowledged their dedication, courage, and impact in shaping responsible public discourse. The ceremony concluded with appreciation for the continued contributions of women journalists to society and the media industry.
