Chain snatching has reached such an alarming level in the city that the women are not secured of their valuables even when they are accompanied by their husbands. Yet another incident of chain snatching has come to the fore in which a woman was relieved of her gold chain while she was riding pillion with her husband on Sunday under the jurisdiction of Lakadganj police station.
Police sources Lata Mulchand Khandwani (48), a resident of Plot No. 201, Januma Society, Garoba Maidan, was on her way to buy vegetables with her husband on his Activa (MH 31 BX 4075). Two unidentified youths came from rear at Barbarte Square, near Lakadganj garden and snatched away the gold chain worth Rs 30,000 worn by Lata.
Lata raised an alarm but the youths were quick enough and sped away. She along with her husband reached the Lakadganj police station and lodged a complaint against the thieves. Cops have registered an offence under Sections 392 and 34 of the IPC and started their investigations.
