Woman attending wedding relieved of booty worth Rs 1.15 lakh

Nagpur: Attending a marriage proved costly for a careless woman as she was relieved of her handbag containing valuables worth Rs 1.15 lakh.

The victim woman, along with husband Sanjay Sukhdeo Bhaisware (52), resident of Shriram Apartment, Bajaj Nagar, had gone to Rajwada Palace, Ganjipeth, for attending wedding of a relative on December 7. While greeting and blessing the newly-wed couple, Sanjay’s wife kept her handbag on the stage and got busy with the rituals. Taking advantage of the opportunity, an unidentified miscreant lifted the handbag containing gold ornaments and a mobile phone collectively worth Rs 1,15,000 and vanished from the scene. After greeting the couple, the woman returned to collect her handbag but was stunned to find it missing.

Based on a complaint filed by Sanjay, Ganeshpeth API V B Wakde booked the unidentified pilferer under Section 379 of IPC and searching for him.
