K.Gowthaman, at first sight, will come across as a humble, diligent banker based here in Nagpur. But he is all set to bring forth another dimension to his personality through an exhibition of his photography titled ‘Alluring Hues’ to be held at Rangayan Art Gallery, Chitnavis Centre on 30 April and 1 May, 2017. Prod him on the theme of the exhibition and he reveals that for the last 5 years, he has been absolutely smitten by the field of flower photography and this exhibition is dedicated to flower photography and more so – bringing forward different ways of looking at flowers through his captures.

Normally involved in landscape photography, he reveals the mind-boggling variety of flowers and the difficulties photographers face when photographing white and yellow flowers in particular and also the problems in capturing wild flowers while staying true to their nature. The flowers in his exhibition are shot from Ooty, Kashmir, Amsterdam and Seville Garden or Queen’s Garden- where he has shot some beautiful shots of the flowers in the rain. He is fond of the wild flowers he shot at Kaas Plateau near Satara but wishes to go to the Valley of Flowers at Himachal Pradesh. He has also some shots from the Nagpur Flower Show at Hislop.

The photographs in his exhibition each tell a story – as if he has tried to attach a character to each flower – fiery, beautiful, elegant, graceful, delicate, charismatic – and so much more. Superb shots from more than 5 years have culminated his first flower photography exhibition and he looks forward to engaging with people who love and appreciate photography. For budding photographers interested in this field, he encourages natural light photography and staying true to the setting and the beauty of the flower to get best results. It is a laborious process but the image at the end is totally worth it. He thanks his wife and family for their encouragement behind putting up the exhibition.

To see these stunning images of flowers captured by him and many more, rush to Chitnavis Centre over the weekend and enjoy the exhibition!
