Winter session ends, Budget session from March 9

Nagpur: The winter session of the Maharashtra legislature here was today prorogued, with the budget session scheduled to start in Mumbai from March 9.

Assembly speaker Haribhau Bagde read out governor’s notification on the prorogument of the winter session and scheduled start of budget session from March 9.

In the state legislative council, chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh read out the notification.

Speaker informed that the house transacted business for 87.20 hours while 8.39 hours were wasted, during 13 sittings.

As many as 11 legislations, including the one providing reservations to the Maratha community, were passed, 5,167 starred questions were received and 640 were accepted and 68 were taken up.

There were 1,428 calling attention notices, 97 were accepted and 48 were taken up.

The average attendance was 44.19 percent with a peak of 93.41 per cent and low of 47.32 per cent on one occasion.

The upper house functioned for 75.50 hours. Over 20 hours were wasted due to ruckus or disruptions. 889 calling attention motions were received, 227 were accepted and 46 taken up.

As many as 863 questions were received, 70 were taken up.
