Nagpur: NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Thursday launched a direct attack on chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ close aide Omprakash Munna Yadav and asked the BJP-Shiv Sena government as to who was shielding him.
Pawar also asked how Yadav was appointed as chairman of State Construction Workers’ Welfare Board’ despite having over 11 criminal cases against him.
The former deputy CM was speaking during last week resolution in assembly on Thursday where he raised doubts on Nagpur police’s efficiency for not being able to trace the Yadav’s family including his two sons – Karan and Arjun in the past two months.
Citing media reports, Pawar flayed the saffron alliance on appointing Yadav as chairman of important department having budget in crores.
“Where are your calls for transparency now? What about your stand of corruption-free government? How an absconding goon is allowed to preside over a government organisation and on what basis?”
Lashing out at the state government for allegedly interfering into police department’s internal working, Pawar said it led to their failure to trace Yadav and his family members, facing charges of serious offences, including attempt to murder.
“Not only, he was appointed at top post, but also granted a rank of a state minister, which is surprising. There is definite pressure on the police force and someone is interfering.”
