Burdwan/Nagpur: In a late night development, massive clashes erupted at West Bengal’s Burdwan University.

The students who were on a hunger strike demanding postpone of third year exam were attacked and brutally beaten up last night inside the campus of the varsity. “Our friends are admitted in the hospital. When asked, the outsiders said we are ‘people’ of the TMC and they have called us here,” said one of the students.

“Even the girls were not spared. They were beaten with bamboo sticks,” said another student.

Earlier the Trinamool Congress Party (TMCP) and the Students Federation of India (SFI) activists also organised movement against the errors in the 2nd year result and for the postpone of the third year exam. After the protest of TMCP and the SFI, now the general students are protesting under the name and style of ‘Hok Kolorab’.

Several students including few female students were injured in the attack. According to the victims, some TMCP activists with some outsiders attacked them with bamboo.
