modi-digital0indiaPrime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting the tech capital of the world – Silicon Valley – to further his dream of ‘Digital India.’ This rare visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the region that houses the who’s who of the technology world has captivated his extensive fan club in the area and commanded the attention of major US technology companies eager to extend their reach into a promising overseas market. Modi’s arrival marks the first time an Indian head of state has been in California in 33 years.

The PM has met representatives of the Sikh and Gujarati communities. Modi visited the Tesla Motors factory and was taken around the factory by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. He also met Apple CEO Tim Cook.

The Indian PM also meet the top leadership of the world’s biggest technology companies – Google’s Sundar Pichai and Microsoft’s Satya Nadella.

The Prime Minister addressed a gathering of technology leaders at the the Digital India and Digital Technology Dinner where he shared his vision for his Digital India and Make in India initiatives. Top tech leaders also announced plans of how their companies intend to cooperate with India in realising the vision.
