We are rich nation with poor population, says Gadkari at NU’s 106th convocation

Nagpur: Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University celebrated its 106th convocation ceremony on January 19 at Suresh Bhat auditorium. Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation in the Government of India along with a renowned industrialist, Founder and Chairman of H.C.L Padma Bhusham Shiv Nadar, Vice Chancellor S.P Kane, Pro-Vice Chancellor Pramod Yeole were present to give away the degrees.

532 Phd, 42,456 graduation degree,11,153 PG were awarded to the students in which 5 students were awarded with Gold medals for the excellence in the academic year 2019.
After a brief gap varsity again welcomed the ethnic wear for the students rather than the traditional gown and cap. Students were seen in Jodhpuri Suit and sarees to take their degrees.

Nitin Gadkari in his address said that Social awareness and work is the key of life. We indeed are a rich nation but with poor population we need to work on developing employment opportunities and education. There is a high need of empowerment in Nation and we should work in generating more to keep the development process at a faster pace and if we want to eradicate poverty we need to generate more employment, industries should work towards generating more vacancies in the country. He said that any university should be above politics and there should not be any kind of political activities or connection in any university. He urged NU to communicate and connect with industries as it helps in gathering new information which can be taught to students which will act in an effective way.

HCL founder Shiv Nadar shared experiences from his journey so far and how he formed H.C.L and made it one of the leading IT firms of India. He informed that now many aircrafts uses H.C.L technologies. He congratulated all the degree holders and wished all the success.

Saptashrungi Moraskar M.A Marathi, won 5 gold medals, she informed that people have a misconception that arts as a subject is very easy but when we write in exam we have to give a full detail explanation of an answer. There is a vast scope in the field of Arts. Saptashrungi aims to become a teacher in future and is all set to acquire Phd.

Munmuni Sinha M.Ed, won 5 Gold medals she informed that even after marriage how her family supported her to acquire higher education. Munmun said that everyone especially the elders of the family must study and learn new things as it help the family to grow and would inspire the children to do the same. While I was studding I got many opportunities to learn new thing which will be helpful for me in future.
