WCL did marvelous job for water conservation : African delegates

DSC_2593Nagpur: A delegation from various African Countries reached WCL on Wenesday 15 April, to know about the mining technology, mine security systems, sustainable development and the various initiatives taken by WCL recently to develop overall industry and to connect populace living in and around the mining areas with the mainstream.

Today the delegation was taken to Nagpur Area of WCL where company has put its efforts to supply discharged water from mines for irrigation purpose to local farmers. Chairman cum Managing Director of Western Coalfields Limited Shri. Rajiv R. Mishra had a dream to come out of this painful drought like situation in mining areas where around 10 Cr. galen water is discharged every day from mines. He decided to bring the area out of this situation and with some sincere efforts of Nagpur Area of WCL, most of the farmland of village called Borgaon was ensured to supply of discharged mine water for irrigation. The water also charged the nearby wells where there was not water at all.

The delegation was taken to the spot to understand the situation, where they understood the problem and the solution provided by WCL. They were also shown the Eco Park, and ECO mine tourism being developed by WCL. The African delegation was amazed to see the effort and appreciated Shri. Mishra and WCL for the marvelous job. The delegation also appreciated WCL, to start Eco Mine tourism in India first time ever in India.

The delegation reached WCL under the aegis of Center for Science and Environment and senior official delegates from various African Countries, Ethiopia, Tnjania, Naijiria, Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa and Kenya from various Ministries / Departments / corporations like mining, environment and forests, energy and minerals, steel, natural resources, sustainable development, environment and rural development land, environment, wildlife and tourism were present.
