WCL Celebrated Coal Workers Felicitation Day.

Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) celebrated Coal Workers Felicitation Day on May,01 0215. This is important to mention here that on the same day Indian Coal Industry was also nationalized.

While addressing the gathering Chairman cum Managing Director of Western Coalfields Limited, Shri. Rajiv R. Mishra congratulated workers and told about the impotence of this day for coal industry. He said that Coal Workers Felicitation Day was first celebrated in coal industry on 1st May 1980 and fortunately in 1960 the state of Maharashtra was also founded on the same day. Acknowledging valuable contribution of coal workers to the coal industry, he called upon them to achieve coal production target through optimum utilization of available resources. Shri. Mishra also suggested to make a “Shahid Sthal” in WCL. H.Q in remembrance of coal workers, who lost their lives till date from 1975. He also suggested to felicitate outstanding workers from next May Day. Emphasizing on safety at work place Shri. Mishra said that this is responsibility of all of us to ensure that none of our companion looses his life at work place due to illiteracy or ignorance. He also appealed all officers and workers to participate in such programmes in large number.

Before this Shri. Mishra, , Shri. Rupak Dayal (Director Personnel/ Finance), Shri. S. S. Malhi (Director Technical), Shri. P.S.R.K. Shastri (Director Finance, NCL) Members / representatives of steering committee Shri. Saurabh Dubey, Shri Ramesh Ballewar, Shri. Pradip Kokas, Shri. Joseph offered the floral garlands on the statue of coal worker. Large number of HODs, officers and workers were prominently present during the programme. Shri. Kokas also elaborated about celebration of May Day. The programme was conducted by Shri. A. K .Singh, Sr. Manager (Welfare) and the vote of thanks was proposed by General Manager (IR), Shri. T. B. Raju.
