Water supply to West Nagpur restored

Nagpur News : The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Water Works Department and Orange City Water (OCW) in a bid to streamline water supply network and creating smooth operations of water supply system in summer season, had jointly undertaken a 24-hours shutdown at Rajbhavan (Governor House) GSR (Ground Service Reservoir) premises on Wednesday, March 20.

During shutdown period NMC-OCW planned to install Flow Meters on inlet from Pench-I line to Governor House and another on gravity main line to Governor House from Seminary Hills MBR. The works on the Pench-1 lines are completed successfully but due to some technical emergency the works on the Seminary Hills Line is going on on war footing.

Due to some technical fault there was an obstruction in the water supply to West Nagpur and the supply to West Nagpur localities was also affected. However, due to all out efforts the supply of water to west Nagpur was restored by the afternoon. However the pressure is low and some areas may remain affected till the evening of 21/03/2013.

In case of, any demand from these areas tankers shall be made available. The tankers are suitably placed accordingly.

Today  Mayor Shri Anil Sole, Water Works Committee Chairman Mr Sudhakar Kohle, Ruling party leader Praveen Datke visited Rajbhavan to inspect the situation. Executive Engineer, Water Works Dept Mr Aziz-ur-Rehman, NESL Co-ordinator Mr Jadhao, Managing Director OCW Mr Ashish Kukreja, CEO OCW Mr Gilles Feuillade and other senior officers of OCW were supervising the works.

NMC-OCW are taking all the steps to restore normal water supply at the earliest and we thank citizens for their co-operation.
