NAGPUR: With mounting losses in gigantic proportions being reported due to flawed water supply system across Maharashtra, the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced in Assembly auditing of water in all Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and other local bodies across the state to streamline water management. In this context, Nagpur Municipal Corporation too is likely to receive the directives soon.

The Chief Minister, while replying to a question raised by MLA Seematai Hire on acute water shortage in Pimpalgaon, said that work for augmented water supply is going on. The State Government is extending full cooperation for completing Imbi Dam. Pilfering of water and wastage on account of leakage are causing huge loss of water and needy are being deprived of the same, said Fadnavis.

On the demand of Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, the Chief Minister announced water audit in all local bodies across the State and said the necessary directives will soon be issued in this regard.

With this announcement of Fadnavis, water audit will be done in Nagpur Municipal Corporation, too.
