Citizens in thousands thronged to have a divine glimpse of floats and tableaux depicting different mythological scenes particularly from Ramayana. This Ram Navami might be the first one in the history of Nagpur to fall on day of Lok Sabha election campaigning end.

For the citizens, who witnessed poll meetings, rallies, padayatras throughout the last two weeks, theRam Navami festivity was a welcome break. Many hasty arrangements were made throughout the city to welcome the floats and tableaus which were taken out from two important places in the city, i.e. fromShri Poddareshwar Ram Mandir near Railway Overbridge on Central Avenue and Shri Ram Mandir in Ram Nagar. The grand Shobhayatras of Lord Ram, consisting of many attractive floats depicting different mythological scenes were taken out on Tuesday (April 8) to mark Ram Navami.

The Shobhayatra taken out from Shri Poddareshwar Ram Temple enters into the 48th year this year. Many prominent personalities and politicians performed puja and later the personalities and devotees hauled the main chariot with a rope for a few distance.

The Shobhayatra included many floats, band parties, dancers, lezim groups etc. Many welcome gates were erected en route and at many important and prominent squares of the city were decorated and speakers spewed out Bhajans of Lord Ram.

A similar atmosphere was witnessed in West Nagpur where a Shobhayatra from Shri Ram Temple at Ram Nagar was taken out.

The City Police had ensured tight security. While traffic police personnel directed the vehicular movement in such a way that the Shobhayatras are not hindered and smooth vehicular movement is also managed. At many squares, the devotees and social organizations had put up stalls to provide drinking water and prasad to devotees all over the routes.
