VIT joins Maha govt’s bid to plant trees

The Vidarbha Institute Of Technology (VIT), with full enthusiasm became a part of the Maharashtra Government mission of planting 2 crore trees in Maharashtra state under campaign of “Green Maharashtra”. To promote this on actual ground, a tree plantation campaign was organized in college and around 25 new trees were planted.

The students and Faculty members of all branch of engineering had actively participated in said campaign. The NSS volunteers of college had played a very important role throughout the program.

They used their training and methods during soil digging, proper plantation and tree guard installation. On the occasion Principal VIT Dr.Sanjay Uttarwar said that “Each year more than 32 million acres of forests are lost. Tree reduces the air, noise & water pollution and also protects watersheds and prevents flooding. We should plant as many trees as possible to save our future.

Mr.Jitesh.N.Maheshwari (Chairman,VIT), said, “As we all know that the whole world is facing the problem of global warming and to recover from such problem planting the trees has become one of the most important today’s aspects.” Dr.Pooja Maheshwari (Secretary, VIT) along with Dr.G.S.Natrajan (Director, VIT) and Dr.Sanjay.S.Uttarwar had appreciated the efforts taken by NSS cell.
