Nagpur: Even as the monsoon season has started, construction of cement roads continues in various parts of Nagpur. Residents of the Laxminagar area are facing numerous issues due to this ongoing construction. Speaking to ‘Nagpur Today,’ residents expressed their dissatisfaction with the administration’s handling of the situation.

Recent unseasonal rains have caused waterlogging in several low-lying areas of Nagpur, and in some places, water has entered homes due to the cement roads. The residents of Laxminagar are also facing similar problems. The increased height of the cement roads has lowered the height of surrounding houses, causing significant inconvenience to the residents. They hold the municipal administration responsible for this issue.

Despite repeatedly informing local councilors and municipal officials, no permanent solution has been provided, forcing residents to deal with these issues during the monsoon season. The residents have expressed their frustration and anger over the administration’s negligence.

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation is currently constructing cement roads in various lanes and by-lanes of the city. However, due to improper leveling, rainwater is not flowing into the drains but is accumulating on the roads, leading to unsanitary conditions and creating swamps. Residents demand that the municipal authorities take appropriate measures to ensure proper drainage of rainwater.

All eyes are now on how the Nagpur Municipal Corporation will address the grievances of the local residents.
