Nagpur: Kalamna Police apprehended four individuals, which included three members of a familial unit, on charges of extortion and aiding 40-year-old Manish Rampal Yadav in taking his own life.
The police have secured a three-day remand of accused Kajal alias Kavitadevi Srivastava (19), her father Shivnaresh Bodhan Srivastava (40), mother Gudiya Srivastava (35), all residents of Mini Mata Nagar and photographer Ramesh Rambahadur Sonar (43), a resident of Lakadganj, for their custodial interrogation.
Manish, a resident of Mini Mata Nagar, had a platonic relationship with Kajal. Allegedly, Kajal’s parents pressured him to bring their daughter to his residence. When Manish declined, Kajal, along with her parents Shivnaresh and Gudiya, as well as photographer Ramesh, began demanding five lakh rupees to refrain from accusing him of rape.
Unable to bear the persistent harassment, Manish tragically ended his life by leaping from the Kanhan bridge on Sunday. Prior to this drastic act, he broadcasted a live video on Facebook, revealing the culprits behind the blackmail. In the video, he explicitly stated that he never engaged in any physical relationship with Kajal.
Manoj Yadav (50), elder brother of the deceased, lodgeda complaint against Kajal, Shivnaresh, Gudiya Srivastavaand Ramesh Sonar that they were threatening to implicate Manish in a rape case to extort Rs five lakh from him. On the basis of the complaint lodged by the brother of the deceased, police registered a case under Sections 306, 389and 34 of the Indian penal Code against the accused quartet. Further investigation is on.
