Nagpur/Bhandara: An 83-year old man, walking on Vainganga River bridge, fainted and fell directly into the swollen river. As it looked that the chances of the aged man living were very dim, a group of fishermen, showing alertness, came to the rescue of the drowning man and saved him. The fortunate man has been identified as Adkoba Gadhve, resident of Lakhni in Bhandara District.

The frail Adkoba had gone to Bhandara District Hospital for treatment. While returning, he was crossing the Vainganga bridge walking. Due to his weakness or noticing the rapid flow of the swollen river, Adkoba fainted. He fell directly into the river only to be saved by the fishermen who were luckily nearby the spot and saw Adkoba drowning.

Adkoba Gadhve was taken to the General Hospital. After receiving treatment he returned home.

It is learnt that some of the villagers recorded the entire episode – the moment of Adkoba falling into the river and the brave act of fishermen – in their mobile phones. Police who were informed about the incident also appreciated the fishermen for their alertness and saving act.
