Nagpur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Nagpur centre, has issued the monthly forecast for September 2025, predicting above-average rainfall across Vidarbha. Districts including Nagpur, Amravati, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, and Gondia are expected to record higher-than-usual precipitation.
According to IMD data, the normal rainfall for September is 160.9 mm in Nagpur, 144.0 mm in Amravati, 201.7 mm in Gadchiroli, 181.9 mm in Gondia, 171.0 mm in Chandrapur, and 115.9 mm in Akola. However, this year the rainfall is likely to exceed these averages.
Along with rainfall, the IMD has also highlighted temperature trends. Maximum temperatures across most parts of Vidarbha are expected to remain above normal, while minimum temperatures—nighttime readings—are also predicted to be higher than average. This could result in persistent heat and uncomfortable humidity both during the day and at night.
The weather department has advised citizens, particularly farmers, to stay alert and take precautionary measures based on updated forecasts. Excess rainfall may impact agriculture and daily life, while above-normal temperatures combined with humidity could add to public discomfort.
