Vidarbha Farmers Suicide: 12 reported case in last 72 hours

Nagpur: When Maharashtra chief secretary along with half dozen top babus of principal secretary ranking were doing ground study of on going agrarian crisis last three days of this week ,12 more innocent more suicides who were in debt and denied bank credit and state relief killed themselves taking the farm suicides toll in vidarbha this year to 574,and the recent victims of agrarian crisis.

Ss per reports two distressed farmers are from Amaravati where chief secretary Swadhin shatriya was reviewing farm suicides crisis and five farmers are from Yavatmal district which is known as epicenter of farm suicide where principal secretary V.Giriraj, Bhaskar Deshmukh and Vikas Gharge where touring in remote part of district to assess the relief work and to study problems of dying distress ed farmers ,farm activist group vidarbha janandolan samiti(VJAS) convener Kishor Tiwari informed in press release today
12 farmers who have killed themselves ,are identified as

1.Naresh Newale of ajanguan surji of mamravati

2.Mukesh Gondase of Talegoan in amaravati

3.Vishwas Gawande of jastgav in buldhana

4.Suresh Masane of dayal nagar in buldhana

5.Namdeo moharia of village wadhona in nagpur

6.Kamalakar aaglawe of village vaigoan in chandrapur

7..Prakash turale of village ubada in wardha

and five farmers of yavatmal are

8.Narayan ogare of villlage gujari

9.Mohanlal rathoe of brahmanwada

10.Sudarshan pendam of village rajur

11.Laxman neware of village dhanora

12. jairam pardhi of gondgheri but non of babus has visited these villages moreover chief secretary was busy in attending function specially organized for laying foundation stone of Metro Rail which is dream project of Maharashtra chief minister devendra fadanvis who is on china-Mongolia tour along with Indian prime minster Modiji ,this is much more irritating ,Tiwari added.

More than 3 million cotton farmers are in deep trouble due to on going agrarian crisis since 2005 claiming more than 11,000 distressed farmers suicides mostly debt trapped and dry land cultivators opting rain sensitive cash crop like cotton and sugarcane promoted by state govt. and agriculture universities .distress farmers are demanding fresh crop laon , in fact “administration already has got the recommendations from dozens of expert commissions, panels, committees and research institutes.All of these studies urge the government to provide farmers fresh credit, free seed and fertiliser, food and health security, free professional education to the farming community along with direct assistance to daughters’ marriages, Tiwari said.

Tiwari also came down on the BJP-led NDA government, which has withdrawn subsidies to farmers. with the VJAS terming it as a mockery of an agrarian crisis, which is an outcome of wrong economic policies, faulty crop selection and climate effect ruining the more than 50 million rural population in the state.
