Fresh from his romedy styles in Main Tera Hero and Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania, young heartthrob Varun Dhawan is trying out some serious thing this time. This has been evident in the first look of his upcoming movie Badlapur directed by Shriram Raghwan, in which he is seen flashing his facial anger using all his violent nerves. However the moment this first poster was released, critics jumped in to compare this one with 2007 Hollywood film 300, in which actor Gerard Butler is seen showing similar facial expression.
The first look of Varun Dhawan in Badlapur was revealed a few days back. Dhawan is touted to be playing a dark role in the film, and the first look does justice to his character. The actor is seen in a teeth-baring snarl of sorts, and one is instantly struck by its uncanny similarity to a poster of the 2007 Hollywood film, 300. Gerard Butler’s facial expression, in the poster in discussion, is exactly the same as that of our Varun Dhawan.
The film is a revenge drama. It has been in the news for quite some time now, what with Varun Dhawan’s character taking such an emotional toll on him that the actor had had to visit a psychiatrist and so on. Apart from the Student of the Year actor, the film also stars Yami Gautam, Huma Qureshi and Divya Dutta in pivotal roles.
After three back-to-back rom-com movies, BADLAPUR will be Varun’s first action thriller and must say, Varun’s aggressive BADLAPUR avatar looks very promising!
Well whether this poster is a copy of 300 or not is left to speculate upon the viewers. What do you say…?
