History of encroachment

RST Nagpur varsity in its urgent executive body meeting held on December 20, 1991 had decided to hand over varsity land admeasuring 70.09 acres to the state government for the proposed Sports Complex. Accordingly, on April 24, 1992 the land was handed over to collector at a meeting.  Later the state government changed its mind. The sports complex was built on Koradi road instead of Amaravati Road. After that the varsity tried to get back its land from state government. But in the meantime, various hotel and dhaba owners had encroached upon the land. So it became a headache for varsity to get back its land so far. The encroachers knocked the doors of district and sessions court. Collector was made a party in the litigation. The varsity made intervention application in the matter. Hotel owner Natthu Yadav, applied in the civil court for ownership of the said land. The matter will come for hearing before the court on June 13, 2014. Similarly, review was taken in the meeting about the kind of steps that can be taken on this background.

Anupkumar had so called a meeting of the officials of various departments to discuss about the steps that can be taken to free the land from encroachment. On the said land of 7.729 acre, 12 people have made encroachment. They include, Vinod Chandan Siriya owner of Forseason Family Restaraunt, Milind Manik Sable owner of The Spoon: Caffe Garden Restaraunt, Sandip Narmadaprasad Yadav owner of Mejban Family Restaraunt, Rakesh Nathhu Yadav owner of Maratha Family Garden, Kunal Gajanan Sakharkar-Shekhar Food Caffe Saojee and Kunal Santosh Bhisikar-Pintoo Saojee Bhojanalaya. Similarly there are some other encroachers also. All the relevant documents of these hotel owners like, hotel permit, water and power supply connection etc will be checked in a special drive. So it seems that the varsity has rolled its sleeves for this battle royal in court and at administration level.
