Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has described “Urban Naxalism” as one of the most dangerous and pressing challenges facing the government today. Speaking informally with reporters in Nagpur ahead of Diwali, Fadnavis said that Urban Naxals are attempting to push the Gen Z generation toward chaos and disorder. He asserted that the state government will respond firmly to such tendencies through constitutional means.

According to the Chief Minister, while armed Naxalism has largely been eliminated from Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, the network of Urban Naxalism has now emerged as the next big threat.

“These Urban Naxals have no identifiable faces,” Fadnavis explained. “They operate under the guise of social movements and use various media channels to plant seeds of confusion and discontent in young minds. This leads to a dangerous distrust of constitutional institutions.”

He further noted that unlike armed Naxalism, which is visible and direct, Urban Naxalism functions covertly and deceptively, making it harder to detect. “But it is Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution that will ultimately defeat this anarchic ideology,” he said confidently.

Fadnavis emphasized that anyone attacking India’s democratic and constitutional framework has no place in Maharashtra. “The government is fully prepared to counter this ideological Naxalism and is working to ensure that the youth stay on the right path,” he concluded.
