Nagpur: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday expressed confidence that the Union Budget 2026–27 will provide a major boost to employment generation in Nagpur and the wider Vidarbha region. He said the budget, with its strong emphasis on infrastructure development, industrial growth and the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, would prove to be a milestone in Nagpur’s development journey.
Gadkari was speaking at a press conference held at Hotel Centre Point in Ramdaspeth, Nagpur. He said the budget’s focus on capital investment holds particular significance for the city. Massive investments in roads, highways, logistics hubs, multi-modal transport systems and industrial projects are expected to create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for youth in the region.
He said sectors such as steel, cement, construction and transport would benefit directly from the increased capital spending, thereby strengthening the local economy. Gadkari pointed out that major infrastructure projects like the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Mahamarg, MIHAN, the dry port and proposed industrial corridors are rapidly positioning Nagpur as a key hub for employment and industrial activity.
The Union Minister further said the Centre’s special focus on Tier-2 cities would accelerate Nagpur’s industrial and economic expansion. Provisions announced for the MSME sector, he added, would empower small industries and lead to large-scale job creation at the local level.
Gadkari said initiatives related to skill development, start-ups and promotion of new industries would directly benefit the youth of Nagpur and Vidarbha, strengthening the foundation of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Overall, he said, the infrastructure-and industry-driven approach of the Union Budget 2026–27 is expected to open up new employment avenues in Nagpur, making it a decisive budget for the economic progress of Vidarbha.
