NAGPUR: The Nagpur Crime Branch has busted an alleged gambling den operating from a farmhouse in Pawangaon under the Kalamna police station limits, arresting 16 persons and recovering property worth ₹24.63 lakh.
The raid was conducted at Two Sister Farm House by Crime Branch Unit-5 under the leadership of DCP Deepak Agrawal, following directions from the Nagpur Police Commissioner. According to police, the accused were allegedly gambling with cash stakes using playing cards when the team raided the premises.
₹24.63 Lakh Worth of Cash, Vehicles and Mobiles Seized
Police said the total seized property includes ₹72,750 in cash, 17 mobile phones valued at around ₹6.20 lakh, two four-wheelers worth approximately ₹9 lakh, seven two-wheelers valued at around ₹5.70 lakh, five mobile phones allegedly belonging to absconding accused valued at around ₹3 lakh, along with gambling mats and playing cards.

The arrested accused have been identified as Gaurav Gendalal Yadav (35), Roshan Anandrao Umredkar (38), Ganesh Gyanchand Nawesh (41), Kunal Khubchand Patil (32), Sangar Bhimrao Somkunwar (28), Sandeep Bhauraoji Nagarikar (28), Kailash Kisnarao Dongre (47), Harshal Mahadev Dekate (32), Dharmendra Rajesh Sahu (31), Nikesh Raju Shripate (33), Prakash Ravi Singh (28), Abhishek Anil Gore (22), Akash Ramu Gupta (31), Sheikh Rehman alias Ghulam Dastagir (45), Sachin Ramesh Dhale (48) and Tushar Chhotuji Lonare (39).
Several Arrested Accused Have Criminal Records
According to police records, some of the arrested persons have previous criminal cases registered against them. Police said Akash Ramu Gupta has 14 cases, while Tushar Chhotuji Lonare has 30 serious criminal cases registered against him. Other accused are also reportedly facing previous cases.
Seven Accused Escape During Raid
Seven alleged gamblers managed to flee from the farmhouse before they could be apprehended. They have been identified as Harish alias Madi Parate, Harish Ramesh Kuhikar, Pranoy Sanjeyrao Jadhav, Kartik Rajesh Maiskar, Pawan Sudhakar Rewatkar, Rakesh Hiralal Meshram and Akash Ajay Khobragade.
Crime Branch personnel recovered five mobile phones allegedly belonging to the absconding accused. Police teams are now searching for them and investigating their possible whereabouts.
Farmhouse Booking Under Scanner
Police investigation has also revealed the alleged role of Nikesh Raju Shripate, who reportedly booked the farmhouse for the gathering. Police said three previous criminal cases are registered against him.
Investigators are now examining who organised the gambling session, who financed or facilitated it and whether the arrested persons are connected to a larger gambling network operating in Nagpur.
Action Under Maharashtra Gambling Act
Action Under Maharashtra Gambling ActThe accused and seized material were handed over to Kalamna Police Station for further legal proceedings. Police said action has been initiated under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act.
The Crime Branch is continuing its investigation, with particular focus on identifying the seven absconding accused and tracing the alleged network behind the farmhouse gambling operation.
