Two more men arrested from Mumbai for duping Nagpur trader of Rs 5.4 cr

Nagpur: The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Nagpur Police arrested two more persons from Mumbai for duping Ankur Kumar Agrawal, a coal trader in the city, to the tune of Rs 5.4 crore by promising returns of 15-20 percent in three months on investment in Extreme Networks India Private Ltd.

The accused have been identified as Raju Boilal Mandal (38), a resident of B/502, Rubi Tower, Sector 8, Charkop, Kandivali (West), Mumbai and Dinesh Ramajor Mishra (42), a resident of Bhagyalaxmi Society, Road No 5, Singh Estate, Thakur Village, Kandivali, East Mumbai. EOW officers produced them before the court and obtained remand for their custodial interrogation till April 14.

Cops seized a Mahindra Scorpio SUV, ornaments and incriminating documents from them. So far, EOW has seized three cars from the accused persons and freezed their bank accounts having Rs 49.18 lakh.

Agrawal invested Rs 5.40 crore from December 7, 2022 to February 3, 2023. The accused also misused blank cheques given by Agrawal. Following a complaint lodged by Agrawal, a case under Sections 420, 406, 419, 467, 468, 471, 171, 120(b) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused persons at Dhantoli Police Station last year.

Earlier, EOW had arrested Mandar Aniruddha Kolte (Nagpur), Suraj Vishnupada Dey, Mangesh alias Dinesh Waman Patekar (both from Mumbai) Alpesh Sureshbhai Patel, Mohammad Jawad Farooq Bora alias Bharat Suleman (both from Gujarat) in this connection. Ten more accused are wanted by the EOW in the case.
