Two cyber crooks nabbed by Ajni police

Nagpur: Ajni Police arrested two cyber fraudsters who allegedly circulated morphed nude photographs of women to extort money by blackmailing them.

The accused have been identified as Kaif Ibrahim Sayyed (32), a resident of Somwarpeth, Karad, district Satara and Irshad Ismail Shaikh (32), a resident of Dopdi, Pune. On June 22 this year, a 21- year-old woman residing in the Ajni area received a WhatsApp message with a link. She was asked to repay the loan taken by her failing which her photographs would be made viral. Though she had not taken any loan, she unknowingly clicked the link. Soon, an apk folder got downloaded in her cell phone and she started receiving several messages and WhatsApp calls. The callers then threatened to make her obscene photographs viral if she failed to make payment on UPI ID kaifsayyad0090@okhdfcbank.

Due to fear, she deposited Rs 12,910 in the account using PhonePay. Her brother then received her morphed photograph on his WhatsApp. Following a complaint lodged by the victim, police registered a case under Sections 420, 500, 506 of the IPC, read with section 67(a) of IT Act.

Using electronic and digital gadgets, cops traced the location of the accused and nabbed them. Preliminary investigations revealed that the two accused collected more than Rs 25 lakh from January till July 22 from innocent women in different cities by blackmailing them.

The arrests were made by Senior PI Sareen Durge and his team under the supervision of DCP (Zone-IV ) Noorul Hasan.
