Nagpur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday caught two police constables of Nagpur Rural for demanding and showing readiness to accept a bribe of Rs 1000 from a bootlegger. The bribe was demanded to allow the liquor vendor to continue his trade. The accused police constables, who demanded the bribe of Rs 1000, have been identified as Manoj Ramlakhan Tiwari and Vikas Bhupal Belsare, both attached to Kalmeshwar Police Station coming under Nagpur Rural Police. The bootlegger, instead of parting with the bribe money, lodged a complaint with the ACB.

Acting on the complaint, the ACB sleuths laid a trap at Kalmeshwar Police Station and sent the liquor vendor to the two accused policemen. The moment the two cops, Tiwari and Belsare, demanded and showed readiness to accept the bribe money, the ACB sleuths caught them red-handed. Later, the Kalmeshwar police booked the two cops under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.

The action was initiated under the directives of Rajeev Jain, Superintendent of Police, ACB.
