Two bookies arrested in Nagpur for betting on IPL match

Nagpur: In a recent operation during an Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket match between Chennai and Delhi, the Unit III of Crime Branch successfully apprehended two persons involved in cricket betting.

The accused have been identified as Rajendra alias Balya Sitaram Kurhadkar (45), a resident of Jhenda Chowk, Mahal and Sitaram Vithobaji Mohadikar (55), a resident of Timki. The police received a tip-off that Rajendra Kurhadkar was accepting bets on a cricket match within the Kotwali police jurisdiction. The team swiftly conducted a raid, apprehending Rajendra Kurhadkar and confiscating a total of Rs. 59,310 in assets, including a laptop, mobile phone, lottery tickets, and Rs 3,200 in cash.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that Sitaram Mohadikar was also receiving bets on the cricket match at his house in the Timki area, falling under the jurisdiction of Tehsil Police Station. In a coordinated effort, the police raided Mohadikar’s residence, leading to his arrest. The police seized a laptop, mobile phone, set-top box, lottery tickets, and cash totalling Rs 1,00,252. Following the arrests, both accused were handed over to the local police station for further interrogation.
