Two booked for embezzling Rs 60 lakhs from Lifeline Blood Bank

Nagpur: A case has been booked against two employees of Life Line Blood Bank for embezzling Rs 60 lakhs.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by the Managing Director of Lifeline Blood Bank Dr Harish Narayan Warbhe aged 54 years, a case has been registered in Sitabuldi Police Station against Sonali Williams aged 30 years and a resident of Mecosabagh Christian Colony, near Kadbi Square and Manager Shailesh Dakate aged 35 years and a resident of Yogeshwar Nagar, Dighori Ghat under Sections 408 and 34 of Indian Penal Code.

According to police sources, Sonali Williams and Shailesh Dakate were working in Life-Line Blood Bank situated in Neeti Gaurav Apartments in Ramdaspeth. It is alleged that both the accused Sonali Williams and Shailesh Dakate had embezzled Rs 60 lakhs from the account of Life-Line Blood Bank, Neeti Gaurav Complex.

When Managing Director of Lifeline Blood Bank Dr Harish Narayan Warbhe came to know about this alleged embezzlement, he lodged a complaint against the accused in Sitabuldi Police Station. The cops of Sitabuldi Police Station are investigating further.

While speaking to Nagpur Today, In-Charge of Sitabuldi Police Station Senior Police Inspector Satyaveer Bandiwar said that the Manager of Life Line Blood Bank Harish Narayan Barve had lodged a complaint against the two accused Sonali Williams and Manager Shailesh Dakate. During investigation it came to fore that both the accused had left the job two months ago. They have been working in the capacity of Cashier and Manager in the Blood bank for the last 5 years. Though the salaries of both the accused were less, yet the life-style and the costly mobile phones they used raised some suspicion in the minds of the Managing Director of Lifeline Blood Bank Dr Harish Narayan Warbhe. When suddenly both the accused quit their jobs, their suspicion turned stronger and when they verified the records, on preliminary inspection, they discovered an embezzlement of Rs 60 lakhs. Both the accused are said to be absconding and the police are investigating further.

Managing Director of Life Line Blood Bank Dr Harish Warbhe while speaking to Nagpur Today said that the life-style and the costly mobile phones of the accused and the sudden quitting of the job had raised some suspicion in their minds. When they checked their records, they found that both the accused in connivance with each other committed a systematic embezzlement of Rs 60 lakhs from the accounts of Life-Line Blood Bank.
