Nagpur: A team of Unit-III of Crime Branch arrested two persons and recovered stolen materials — gold ornaments, 16 cell phones and a motorbike — collectively worth Rs 6.70 lakh from them.
The accused have been identified as Mohammad Irfan Shamshad Ansari (19), a resident of Bhandewadi, near Games Studio, Pardi and Sandeep Vijay Shahu (22), a resident of Hanuman Nagar, Bhandewadi. The accused duo and one of their accomplices had looted two gold ‘Mangalsutras’ from Shobha Madhukar Nimbulkar (57) near GRP Petrol Pump on Rameshwari Road in Ajni area on June 21.
A team of Unit-III after getting confirmation about involvement of Mohammad Irfan and Sandeep Shahu in the crime nabbed them. During their interrogation, they spilled the beans and confessed to the crime. They also confessed to committing a robbery in the Nandanvan area. Subsequently, cops recovered two gold ‘Mangalsutra,’ including one weighing about 35 gramme, 16 mobile phones and a motorcycle used by them for committing the crimes.
The accused duo was handed over to Ajni Police for further investigation. The arrests were made by PI Sagde, API Pawan Morey, PSI Madhukar Kothake, PSI Balaram Zadokar, ASI Satish Pande and other sunder the supervision of Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Mumakka Sudarshan and ACP Sanjay Jadhav.
Nagpur GRP arrests notorious thief
The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Nagpur arrested a notorious thief who committed two thefts in running trains.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Wahid Abdul Hanib (30), a resident of Bada Tajbagh. According to police, Hanib had committed two thefts in running trains last month. Two offences were registered at GRP Nagpur in this regard. In the first offence, he had stolen cash of Rs 8,000 from a purse of a passenger while in the second offence, Rs 14,000 cash was pocketed by Habib, police said.
Acting on CCTV footage, the police identified him and arrested at Mela ground in Bada Tajbagh.
Under the guidance of GRP SP Dr Akshay Shinde, SDPO Hemant Shinde, the arrest was made by PI LCB Vikas Kanpillewar, PSI Pravin Bhimte and staff including Mahendra Mankar, Vinod Khobragade, Avind Gagwe, Chandrashekhar Madankar, Girish Raut, Mangesh Titarmare.
