Two passionate Chocolatiers, Huzaifa Katawala and Lulua Kapadia of Nagpur created Tricous, to fulfill our ‘Chocolate needs’!!
They took the first step by creating home made chocolates and promoting chocolate-gifting endeavors; Tricous has since established itself as a luxury chocolate brand in the entire Vidharbha Region, not just Nagpur.
Says Lulua’s “We saw how our clientele was growing in Nagpur. They would love our packaging, our chocolate recipes and concepts. They would come back for more. For us, word-of-mouth marketing did the trick in spreading the name, early in 2011.”
As the brand started gaining name and fame, the two partners hungered for more. They felt they had to delve deeper into the world of chocolates!! And explore… so Lulua and Huzaifa, traveled across India for over a year to learn more.
Chocolate has so many definitions across cities and academies pan India. By the end of their R&D excursions, they had tasted many varieties of chocolates, had learned the difference between compound, pure and couverture chocolates, the making of truffle varieties, jelly creations and the skills of panning!
” Phew! It was a huge exercise we undertook!” Says Huzaifa today.
TriCous has thus, painstakingly, evolved. Now they offer a pure chocolate range and also fusion flavours like paan, roasted almonds, hazelnut and more. Fruit and honey jellies, assorted chocolate truffles, lollipops and custom creations.
They are the first ones in Vidarbha working with couverture Belgium chocolates made by Barry Callebut on a commercial level. (Couverture means pure chocolates made with more than 35% Cocoa butter, not compounds like vegetable fats.)
You can buy them in a variety of boxes like 6 pieces, 9, 12 etc.
But the further good news for Nagpur is that recently, TriCous has established their own Chocolate Academy for chocolate enthusiasts who are looking to grow into true chocolatiers. Packed with many techniques and methods to teach chocolate making at the beginner and intermediate level.
