A resident of Ward No 12, Lanji, Balaghat (MP), Aakash Pramod Umre (27) in his complaint stated that he came to know from his friend and a relative that Mohod was running a money doubling investment scheme. He came to the city and met Mohod and Kanchan Gosawi at Poonam Chambers. Between February 2, 2023, and April 8, 2023, Mohod and Gosawi told Parag that they could bring returns of Rs 1.25 crore within two days if he invested Rs 25 lakh. After gaining his confidence, they introduced him to Patel at his office — Bilal Enterprises — in Hasanbag locality. Patel, too, assured him that he would get four times return on investing Rs 25 lakh in just two days.

Believing the lucrative returns promised to him, Parag Umre handed over Rs 25 lakh to Patel in the presence of Mohod and Gosawi. After two days, he contacted one Sagar at Patel’s office but he avoided him saying that they were yet to receive the cash. He then personally met Patel and asked him to return the money. Patel threatened him of dire consequences if he visited his office again.

Realising that he was defrauded by Mohod, Patel and Gosawi, Umre approached Nandanvan police and lodged a complaint against them. On the basis of the complaint, cops registered a case under Sections 420, 406,323,504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code against the three accused. Later, police took Mohod into custody.
