As fans of Akshay Kumar go crazy on Twitter over the first look of Kesari, Discovery JEET was also unveiled the look of Mohit Raina as Havildar Ishar Singh. Today, is the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who is the tenth guru of the Sikhs and the founder of the Khalsa sect. So, it made sense for Akshay and Mohit to unveil the looks today. Khiladi Kumar wrote on Twitter: Feeling nothing but immense pride and gratitude while sharing this. Beginning my 2018 with #KESARI, my most ambitious film and a lot of passion. Need your best wishes as always. In the first pic, we can see Akshay wearing an orange outfit with the intense look in his eyes. The film will release next year and today was the first day of the shoot.
The channel, Discovery JEET that will go on-air in a few days unveiled the look of Mohit Raina as Havildar Ishar Singh. With his six foot frame and imposing build, he looks like one mighty warrior. The show is titled 21 Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897 and is a docu-drama keeping in line with Discovery’s content sensibilities. It is produced by Abhimanyu Singh’s Contiloe Pictures. Commenting on the show, Mohit Raina said, “I have always been fascinated by defence services. As a student of an Army school, I was always surrounded by men of discipline and repute. It is an honour to play a Hawildar who laid his life for his motherland. To look the part was the most challenging task, but the research/creative team has done a wonderful job. The minuscule details were taken care of by them. I hope the audience likes the first look and accepts the part.”
The Battle of Saragarhi which was fought in 1897 is a glorious chapter in the history of Sikhs. The brave warriors of the 36th Sikh regiment of the British Indian Army defended India from the Pashtun and Orakzai tribesmen who were 10,000 in number. Only 21 soldiers were at the post but they defended the North-Wesr Frontier Province. Mohit will be seen playing the role of a dedicated, selfless and daring soldier who is ready to go any extent to protect his motherland.
Even Rajkumar Santoshi is making a film on the Battle of Saragarhi with Randeep Hooda in the lead. The Sarbjit actor took extensive training to get into the part. Akshay’s first look has won people over. We know that it is an overdose of the Battle of Saragarhi but it is nice to see young men getting acquainted with the unsung heroes of India’s history.
